BLACK HERITIGE RIDERS

FINALLY TONIGHT, A CROSS COUNTRY RIDE TO HIGHLIGHT BLACK HISTORICAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE U-S GALLOPED TO THE STATE CAPITOL TODAY.

MILES DEAN, A NEW JERSEY TEACHER, IS RIDING FROM NEW YORK TO LOS ANGELES. HE’S TRYING TO UNDERLINE THE IMPACT OF AFRICANS AND AFRICAN-AMERICANS TO THE EXPLORATION, EXPANSION AND DEVELOPMENT OF AMERICA. HE’S ALTERNATING BETWEEN TWO HORSES TO MAKE THE TRIP. THEY’RE FINDING THE MOUNTAINS A TOUGH RIDE.

"Tough country’s not the word! West Virginia put a whipping on me, the horse, and my truck, The hills and valleys are extremely beautiful. The people were extremely hospitable. I’d come back to West Virginia anytime."

HE’S GOING ON HORSEBACK BECAUSE THE HORSE WAS A KEY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION IN THE PERIOD HE’S FOCUSING ON FROM THE 15-HUNDREDS TO THE 18-HUNDREDS. DEAN WILL BE RIDING OUT THRU INSTITUTE FRIDAY.
